오토 웜비어 북한 억류 미국 대학생 석방 

북한에 억류돼있던 독일계 청년 오토 웜비어(22)가 억류 18개월 만에 마침내 석방돼 현지시간 미국 오하이오주 신시내티에 도착했습니다. 그러나 웜비어의 부모는 오토가 혼수상태에 있다고 인터뷰했습니다. 북한은 식중독(보톨리누스 중독증)에 걸려서 수면제를 먹었다가 그리됐다고 설명했습니다. 작년 3월부터 혼수상태였다고 합니다.

그의 죄목은 양각도 국제호텔에서 정치 선전물을 훔치려 한 혐의입니다. 재판으로 15년 노동교화형을 선고받고 17개월 동안 복역해왔습니다.

Tragic story. He was just a dumb kid and has more than suffered for his mistake. It only takes one bad decision when you are young to ruin your entire life. My heart breaks for his parents.

I'm not buying the botulism- my guess is he was beaten and fell into a coma from his injuries and they waited a year to ensure all the physical evidence of his treatment healed.
